Some students decide to arrive in Barcelona without having previously booked their student housing, with the idea of staying a few days in a hotel while finding the ideal apartment for students. Perhaps it is a good idea in other cities with less student influx and more availability of rental apartments, but at this point, most of the apartments for students in Barcelona are already reserved. If you have not already booked your room, we recommend you do it as soon as possible.
September is one of the best months to visit Barcelona. The intense summer heat is softened and the average temperature is about 21 degrees, although the days remain long and with many hours of sunshine. Do not forget your swimsuit, you can still enjoy beach days in Barcelona and the surrounding beaches before classes or weekends start. Afternoons will start to be cooler, but a thin jacket will suffice. The cold does not reach Barcelona until end November or December, so we still have a few months ahead to enjoy the good weather.
From 22 to 25 September are celebrated in Barcelona the fiestas of Mercè, its patron. They are the most important festivals in Barcelona with activities throughout the city. In those days you can enjoy light and sound shows, learn the tradition with the famous and impressive human castles, popular dances or gastronomy, attend a lot of free concerts and many more activities. You can have a look at the schedule on the website of the city council: http://lameva.barcelona.cat/merce/es/.
In addition to the festivities of the Mercè, the biggest festivities are held in such iconic neighborhoods as Barceloneta or La Ribera (also known as Born).
Also it is festive the 11 of September, in which the National Dada is celebrated, a day of protest and with many institutional acts. On this day commemorates the fall of Barcelona before the troops of Felipe V. A day full of history and a marked political character in which the streets of Barcelona are filled with flags.
If you love electronic music, the first three Sundays of September do not miss "Bruch in the park", an electronic music festival in the Jardines Joan Brossa de Montjuich. If you are interested, we leave the link with more information and ticket prices: http://barcelona.brunch-in.com/
As you can see, although the summer is about to end, in Barcelona the best is about to begin! A September full of music and activities to welcome you to this city full of light.
