Discover Barcelona: we cross the Diagonal

As its name indicates, this avenue crosses diagonally the city of Barcelona. It begins (or ends, as it is seen) at the entrance to Barcelona from Tarragona. In that part of the avenue is the University Zone, where are the main faculties of the UB and UPC. Let's start our tour!

From the university area La Diagonal connects with the Tram (tram) to one of the largest squares in Barcelona, Francesc Macià Square. During the journey you will see one of the most important business areas of Barcelona. But also commercial, since in that section we will pass through an English Court, the Pedralbes Center shopping center and at the intersection of Diagonal and Numancia Street, with one of the biggest shopping centers: La Illa.

We arrived at Francesc Macià, last stop on the Tram. What do you think about cycling? We are about 10 km ahead until we reach the sea. Between Francesc Macià Square and Paseo de Gracia (metro stop Diagonal, L5 and L3) we will find all the shops that we can imagine. It is the commercial area par excellence. We have passed along most of our university floors: Muntaner, Travessera de Gracia, Gala Placidia and the Balmes student building. The location of these apartments for students is ideal because of its proximity to the University Zone, but beware if you are a student given to compulsive shopping, you are in a risk zone !! ;)

The next reference point will be that of Verdaguer, at the intersection with Paseo San Juan. The subway stop with the same name, Verdaguer, connects lines 2 and 5. In Paseo San Juan we will make a stop to regain strength, as there are a lot of trendy cafes and restaurants.

With a full stomach we continue our journey until the Plaça de Les Glories. There we have Los Encantes, Barcelona's largest outdoor market, the Barcelona Design Museum and Las Glorias Shopping Center, we have for a little while and for all tastes. The metro stop is Glories (L1). There again we can take the Tram to our last stop: Forum.

The section of the Diagonal from Glories to Forum is the newest part of the Diagonal, also known as 22 @ and which concentrates a large number of technological companies. We will cross the Rambla del Poblenou, one of the zones with more activity of the zone. The University of Barcelona and the UPC have some centers in this area.

Arriving at the forum we find another great shopping center, Diagonal Mar. But as we have done enough shopping, you seem a bit of culture visiting the Museum of Natural Sciences that is located in the Forum. From there we approach the beach and finally, we lie down to rest of our day knowing the Diagonal of Barcelona.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!
